Your Excellency, Mr. President Putin!
Your Excellency, Mr. President Trump!
On April 25, 1945, on a destroyed bridge over the Elbe River in Germany, in Torgau, soldiers of the Red Army and the U.S. Army shook hands, marking the imminent victory of the Allies of the anti-Hitler coalition. Soviet and American soldiers displayed unparalleled courage, liberating Europe from Nazism during World War II. Their heroic deeds are immortalized in memorials: in the USA—with the “Spirit of the Elbe” plaque at Arlington National Cemetery; in Russia—with a sculpture on Sivcev Vrazhek in Moscow; and in Germany—with a monument in Torgau. Eighty years ago, the “Spirit of the Elbe” united our peoples in the struggle for freedom, becoming an integral part of the cultural codes of our nations and the memory of our shared Victory.
Today, in an era of new global challenges, with the world on the brink of self-destruction, public figures from various countries have come together to establish a permanent international humanitarian forum, “Spirit of the Elbe: A Bridge of Trust, Friendship, and Cooperation.” Its mission is to strengthen cross-cultural dialogue, grounded in traditional values and mutual respect.
We are convinced that the safety and quality of life on our planet depend on strong ties between peoples in the fields of art, education, science, culture, business, and sports. Political differences must not sever these connections. The “Spirit of the Elbe” is a cornerstone of the peaceful and harmonious development of humanity.
The peoples of the world sincerely commend your commitment to peace. We urge you to support this initiative of people’s diplomacy and, as was done five years ago, to sign a Joint Statement commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Elbe Meeting. This step will honor the memory of those who achieved victory in World War II and demonstrate your dedication to peace, cooperation, and harmony.
The “Spirit of the Elbe” is a bridge of trust, friendship, and cooperation, reaching into the future. Let us build it together!

25 апреля 1945 года на разрушенном мосту через реку Эльба в Германии, в Торгау, солдаты Красной Армии и Армии США пожали друг другу руки, ознаменовав близость победы союзников антигитлеровской коалиции. Советские и американские солдаты проявили беспримерное мужество, освобождая Европу от нацизма в годы Второй мировой войны. Их подвиги увековечены в мемориалах: в США — плитой «Дух Эльбы» на Арлингтонском кладбище, в России — скульптурой на Сивцевом Вражке в Москве, в Германии — памятником в Торгау. 80 лет назад «Дух Эльбы» объединил наши народы в борьбе за свободу, став частью культурных кодов наших стран и памяти общей Победы.
Сегодня, в эпоху новых глобальных вызовов, когда мир стоит на грани самоуничтожения, общественные деятели из разных стран объединились, чтобы создать постоянно действующий международный гуманитарный форум «Дух Эльбы: мост доверия, дружбы и сотрудничества». Его цель — укреплять кросскультурный диалог, опираясь на традиционные ценности и взаимное уважение.
Мы убеждены, что безопасность и качество жизни на планете зависят от прочных связей между народами в сферах искусства, образования, науки, культуры, бизнеса и спорта. Политические разногласия не должны разрывать эти связи. «Дух Эльбы» — залог мирного и гармоничного развития человечества.
Народы мира с искренним признанием приветствуют ваше стремление к миру. Мы призываем вас поддержать инициативу народной дипломатии и, как это было сделано пять лет назад, подписать совместное Заявление в ознаменование 80-летия Встречи на Эльбе. Этот шаг станет данью памяти тем, кто одержал победу во Второй мировой войне, и продемонстрирует ваше стремление к миру, сотрудничеству и согласию.
«Дух Эльбы» — это мост доверия, дружбы и сотрудничества, устремленный в будущее. Давайте строить его вместе!
